The Cree Nation of Eastmain is open Monday through Friday from
9:00 am to 12:00 pm and 1:00 pm to 5:00 pm. All administration offices are closed on

Community Housing

Vision Statement
To partner with the community to develop and maintain a clean, safe, and healthy living environment. The Housing department envisions a future where everyone has an affordable, safe, and nurturing home, and where neighbourhoods are attractive places to live, work, go to school, and play.

Mission Statement
To ensure the highest quality of service maintaining and managing housing units and provide the most comfortable, safe, and clean environment for our tenants. The Housing department is dedicated to servicing housing tenants by providing comfortable, safe, and clean lodging in a financially responsible manner.

Our Promise
The Housing department understands that we need healthy homes to have healthy families; by working together, sharing responsibilities and ensuring our obligations are met, we can achieve more than just an agreement, we can achieve good relationships, solid partnerships, and open communication.

  • Develop and manage the preventive maintenance programs of the Canadian Mortgage Housing Corporation (CMHC) for Band owned housing units.

  • Manage the Housing department's financial information required to ensure timely production of monthly financial statements.

  • Make tenants aware and informed of their responsibilities and the importance of keeping the environment safe and comfortable.


Our Goals
In order to achieve our Housing mission and vision statements and align them with our values and promises, we are committed to successfully accomplish the following goals:

  • Provide informational sessions and educational programs that are required under the new housing policy

  • Have the tenant register up to date and increase rent collection from 28% to 2016 to 38% in 2017

  • Implement a preventive maintenance program
